But my kid really wants to!!!
Age in the shop is really dependent on the kid and the project. Some children as young as 9 do well with close parental help but others the same age struggle. Funny, it seems girls do better at it than boys at younger ages…
We will ask that the adult holds the material/tongs and approach the fire while the kid stays at the anvil and swings the hammer. We have short anvils, step stools and kids size aprons/ PPE available in the shop.
If you believe your child is mature enough to be safe in this environment with tools and red hot glowing steel inches from their bare fingers, then both of you are welcome to join us. You both will have a project, so grab two tickets and you the adult will sign the safety waiver for both of you.
